Banyard Millet Sambar rice

500 gms, 1 Kg

Ingredients

Viruthai Millet Banyard rice – 1 cup

Toor dhal – ½ cup

Mustard,orid dhal,cumin,pepper -1 spoon

Small Onion –10 in no.

Tomato – 3

Vegetables – as your choice ( carrot,peas,potato,beans,cauliflower)(optional)

Chilli -2       

Asafoetida

Curry leaves

Sambar powder – 1 and ½ spoon

Turmeric powder – ¼ spoon

Coriander – handful

Oil – 2 spoons

Salt to taste

Ghee – 2 spoons

Steps:

  1. Wash rice and toor dhal twice and soak it for 1 hour
  2. Heat a pressure cooker and add oil to it
  3. Add mustard seed and let it sprinkle. Add orid dhal ,cumin and pepper and chilli
  4. Add Asafoetida and curry leaves,onion and saute it till it turns brown
  5. Once onion is fried add tomato and fry till it mashes completely.
  6. Add turmeric powder and fry it
  7. Add vegetables of your choice and fry till veggies turn soft.
  8. Add sambar powder and mix it well
  9. Add soaked rice andwater to it. Once it comes to boil close the lid and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  10. Once the pressure releases add 3 spoon of ghee and mix it gently

Add coriander and Serve hot.
